We cannot say Thank You enough to all of our partners and volunteers that make John’s mission possible!
This event has allowed John’s Charity to donate 58 defibrillators (AEDs) to 10 Central Iowa school districts. Our goal is to ensure there is one in every building and portable ones to travel outside the buildings to activities. We continue to provide replacement pads, batteries and all other accessories on a regular schedule for all AEDs in each school to keep them up-to-date. Our current focus is on schools who do not have a fulltime EMS department in their town.
John’s Charity is able to continue to fund the John D Gomke Bereavement Fund, this is the sole bereavement fund with the Mercy One Foundation that includes the NICU, PICU, Mother/Baby and Children’s Hospital in Des Moines area. This fund provides keepsakes to help families cope and get through the unimaginable loss of an infant or young child, including preterm birth through 19-years-old.
We have also been able to give 23 families Owlets to give them peace of mind while their new baby sleeps.
Each year we invite parents who have lost an infant to share their child’s story. We continue to share their angel’s stories and remember them year after year. The sweetest thing a parent can hear is their child’s name spoken out loud, and we want to make sure this continues throughout the years.
