Opened February 18th, 2019, Athletico Adel offers a variety of rehabilitation services, including physical and occupational therapy, sports medicine and worker’s compensation services to help patients get back to doing the things they love to do.

The large, new facility is conveniently located one block south of Hwy 169 and Hwy 6, near the Dallas County Ambulance bay and across the street from Family Dollar.

This location provides easy access off the highway and is in close proximity to ADM High School. The open space design allows for five therapy tables, three stationary bikes, a modified treadmill, staircase, rowing machine, upper body resistance bands, hand weights and more.

The clinic’s manager, Timothy Crannell, PT, DPT, was born and raised in Adel. After graduating from ADM, Tim completed his undergraduate degree at Central College in Pella, then his master’s and doctorate at Des Moines University. He then moved to Florida in 2003 and practiced physical therapy until 2017, when he returned to Adel to raise his two children. Tim believes strongly in supporting the local community, a value shared by Athletico. The Adel location belongs to the ADM Booster Club and Adel Partners Chamber of Commerce.

“I’m from Adel and I’m looking forward to treating patients in my hometown. I’ve had the opportunity to work in other parts of the country, but coming home to work in this community is very fulfilling. I’m truly grateful to be able to assist people in achieving their goals after an injury or surgery,” said Tim.

As an experienced Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) since 2002, Tim creates custom treatment plans for each patient’s healthcare needs, including back and neck pain, muscle strains and sprains, joint replacement therapy, vestibular rehabilitation, as well as sport, work or auto injuries.

“I’m able to sit down for an hour with the patient during the initial consultation or evaluation. I can talk with them about why they’re here and go through some testing with them. This allows me to provide a specialized treatment program that fits their needs and helps them reach their goals. Providing this level of patient care, which is part of Athletico’s core values, fits in with why I went into the profession,” said Tim.

If you are unsure if you need physical therapy, Athletico also offers a free, 30-minute assessment for anyone dealing with strains, sprains or nagging pain. During this appointment they will assess your injury or complaint and then provide a recommendation for treatment, which may mean starting physical therapy the same day. The Adel office schedules appointment quickly, sometimes the same or next day, but always within 24-48 hours.

“Our free assessment is not just for athletes and weekend warriors. No matter how your pain starts – from walking downstairs to working in the yard – we can help you get back to doing the things you love. Athletico also offers virtual free assessments, allowing you to have your condition assessed from the comfort of your own home through a secure online video chat. In-clinic or online assessments are designed to provide convenience and ease to our patients,” said Tim

Tim also helps patients who have been injured on the job, resulting in workers’ compensation claims. He is trained to assess both the work environment and worker behaviors in order to provide customized intervention techniques and programs. Services include work conditioning, functional capacity evaluations, ergonomics and more.

Additionally, Athletico Adel offers early morning, late evening and Saturday appointments. They accept all major insurance plans and do not require a doctor’s note or prescription to begin therapy.

Athletico Physical Therapy“I’m here to take care of people. We’re here to take care of the community, take care of the athletes, take care of the rural populations and we just want to make sure people are aware of that,” said Tim.
