Adel Time Capsule Ceremony October 9

Adel’s observance of its demi semi cept centennial (175 years) continues with the traditional burial of a time capsule.

Mayor Jim Peters will preside over this event scheduled for October 9th at 2:00 in the southwest corner of Kinnick Feller Park.

The time capsule site will eventually be marked with a headstone labeled “To be opened in 2122”.

The time capsule vault is approximately 14 inches square and 14 inches deep. Large enough to hold a considerable amount of Adel memorabilia.  

Boxes labeled “Time Capsule” are located at city hall and the library. Adel citizens and businesses are encouraged to bring items to the event or drop them off. 

Suggested items:

  • Families; family pictures, family histories, car keys, house keys, old TV remotes, money, bitcoins
  • Businesses: business cards, menus, interest rates info from local banks,
  • Civic organizations: membership rosters, pictures, histories
  • Gardeners: seeds
