Veteran’s Day Memorial Salutes ADM Alumni
President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed November 11, 1919 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day, later to be known as Veteran’s Day. His remarks, made after the War to End All Wars, ring true today over 90 years later.
“To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations.“
Please join the ADM 6-8th graders Thursday, November 11th as the ADM Alumni commemorate the lives of 8 brave graduates who gave their lives in the name of American freedom during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam Conflict.
The Killed in Action Memorial dedication ceremony will begin at 9:05am around the ADM High School flagpole with a flag raising presentation by the Adel American Legion, recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance, and performance of the National Anthem by the Middle School Chorus.
Audience members will then move indoors to the school auditorium where members of the ADM Alumni Board will present the Killed in Action Memorial.
The Memorial consists of a 4 foot by 3 foot bronze and alumicolor plaque designed by Jim Peters and eight, 2 foot by 3 foot displays composed of photos, letters, and tributes representing each of the ADM graduates.
