The City of Adel will hold a ceremonial groundbreaking for its new water treatment plant on October 2, 2019.

The event will be held at 10:00 am at the project site located at 208 N 5th Street in Adel.

The new plant will replace the aged existing treatment facility that is nearing the end of its useful life. The new treatment facility will have enhanced water quality and additional capacity to serve the growing community.

With its enhanced water quality and increased capacity, the new treatment plant will serve the growing community for generations to come. It will facilitate continued growth and development, expanding the City’s tax base and ensuring the City can continue to provide a high quality of life.

Funding for the project, which includes $2.3 million dollars in grant funds, was made available to the City through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant Program.

Mayor James F. Peters stated that ”the City of Adel is excited to see this important, long-awaited project begin and has appreciated the partnership with USDA-RD.”

The new treatment plant is anticipated to be operational by late Spring 2021.
