Kristie Anderson – Azalea Lane Boutique

This month we spoke with Kristie Anderson, owner of Adel’s fashionable clothing store, Azalea Lane Boutique!

Kristie and her family of four moved to Adel 12 years ago.
Kristie’s husband grew up in a small-town and the couple wanted their children to have the same positive experiences.

For over 20 years both Kristie and her husband have been Accountants in Public and Corporate settings.

Kristie’s expertise has helped many business owners and now that their youngest child is about to graduate, Kristie felt it was time to start the business of her dreams.

Azalea Lane Boutique is a modern clothing store that opened in May 2019, just in time for Graduation season. Many of Kristie’s first customers were teens and mothers looking for nice outfits and dresses for the big event.

Azalea Lane Boutique is ideal for those who enjoy the hunt for unique and special pieces to add to your wardrobe. The store offers an array of casual clothing options in sizes ranging from 0-3X. Featuring a collection of curated accessories, the latest trends hitting the coasts, fashionable shoes and resort wear, Kristie aims to have something for everyone. Guests often comment that they are impressed by the variety they find.

“I go to market every two months and travel across the US to do it. One of my favorite things is going to market to pick things out and see what the new trends are going to be. When I go to market I pick out things that catch my eye- I try to carry lines that nearby boutiques don’t carry.

For the high school girls I will go by instinct, picking out what I think is going to sell. I carry from 0-3X. Every line runs differently- I tell everyone that comes in the store to try things on, because a ‘Small’ in one shirt will not be the same as a ‘Small’ in another line. I go to market every two months and always have something new available.

I don’t reorder the same thing; nobody wants to wear what their neighbors all are wearing. The people that come in to the store range from teens to retirees. It’s a big range of people and everyone is looking for something a little different. I think there is something for everyone at Azalea Lane Boutique!”

Kristie loves to carry Iowa made products in the store. She currently offers handmade leather earrings, jewelry, and a new line of goat milk bath products from Bramble Wood Acres in Indianola.
