Dallas County unveiled a logo that ties together both the rich history of the county with the strong modern growth of its communities. The classic seal design serves as a visual representation of Dallas County and instantly identifies the county government branch.
Powerful fonts and a modern color scheme are characteristic to nature and conservation, while the history, recreation and agriculture of the county are depicted within the illustrations.
The center of the seal contains the unmistakable dome of the Dallas County courthouse. The hands on the clock are situated at 6:47 or 18:47, a nod at the date to which the county was organized.
To the left of the courthouse dome, furrowed fields represent the county’s agricultural history. To the right, a winding path represents both the Raccoon River Water Trail, a 30.8-mile-long tributary of the Des Moines River and the Racoon River Valley Paved Trail, the longest paved trail in the nation. The trees to the left and right represent the county’s growth and fertility.
Board of Supervisor Mark Hanson stated “The new logo helps unify how the public identifies the county. It creates greater consistency among county departments and committees to better serve our citizens,” he said. “Anything we produce has the same look and feel and consistency that helps increase awareness of county programs and services”.
The County’s new brand will be implemented over several months to exhaust the current inventory held within departments. Phase one will include an update and redesign of the county website and electronic based materials. Phase two will include vehicle/equipment decals and additional signage.
The new logo, designed by local graphic artist, Dana Brown Designs, was created through a committee of county employees who played an active role in the selection of the final design.”
