Adel Good Samaritan Food Pantry New Hours
The Good Samaritan Food Pantry is now open the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month. In an effort to help more people find free food assistance, the pantry is working to extend hours and days that families can access food.
Good Samaritan Food Pantry, located at 215 N. 11th Street in Adel, offers a 7-10 day supply of pantry food staples, along with meet, eggs, and cheese when available. Personal care items are also available to shoppers at their monthly visit.
In addition to monthly food pantry visits, people can pick up free fresh food anytime during regular open hours. Fresh food includes “rescue food” items donated by local stores that often includes produce, ready-made meals, bagged salads, milk, and bakery items.
Anyone in our service area in need of food assistance can visit the food pantry– there are no income guidelines. We currently serve residents in Adel, DeSoto, Minburn, Van Meter, Dexter, Linden and Redfield.
The Adel Good Samaritan Food Pantry has had strong community and area support for over 40 years. This support is critical to helping our small non-profit organization serve the families in our region who are “food insecure.”
Your donations of staple groceries and fresh produce are vital to providing healthy and well-rounded food choices for our clients.
But just as important are your regular financial contributions.
To keep our Pantry fully stocked, we buy food weekly from the Food Bank of Iowa, local and regional grocery wholesalers, and suppliers. We also have modest overhead costs for staff, rent, utilities, insurance, and transportation.
No matter what size of the financial gift you make, every dollar is essential and is used to support the Pantry’s activities, purchase food to fill in what is not donated, and help sustain the future of Good Samaritan, now in its 41st year of serving Dallas County.
