This will be our first year with a booth at the Sweetcorn Fest. We are also running a contest- register to win pottery from the Atherton House or Golf Passes from River Valley Golf Course! Bring your camera and you can get your picture taken with Terry. It will be a great day!

No, this year we did my Gram's Chocolate CHocolate cookies. We've had several requests for the powdered raspberry cookies recipe. I hope to include it in an upcoming Newsletter.

    Have a great Holiday!

Are you going to have powdered sugar cookies at the open house this year? Those were my favorite.

I like Adel in the morning after a heavy snowfall. Quiet. Peaceful. Beautiful.

My favorite memory of holidays in Adel is the holiday concert at the high school. Everybody got up and sang the halleluia chorus. No matter how bad they sang. Mr. Cooper did a great job.

My favorite memory of Christmas in Adel is the caroling around the square and sending letters to Santa.

Thanks for the reminder on the corn schucking! I moved away from town and this is my first year back and I totally forgot about that tradition! We used to go up to the bank with my parents the night before and help out. This year I took my friend and we had a great time. Went back out on Saturday and enjoyed my fair share of corn! Thank goodness you guys buy so much- I don't feel as guilty!

Wow, the sweet corn festival has gotten huge! I remmber when it used to only be on the square, now it's all over down town. I kinda miss being aroound the courthouse but it's so big now I guess I understand why it had to spread out. Way to go Adel- I'll be back next year for sure!

The sweet corn festival was lots of fun. It was a little too humid for me but the grandkids didn't mind- they just wanted corn. We had some of that anniversary cake too. That was pretty impressive.

I heard on KIOA that the Sweetcorn Festival isn't the first weekend of the State Fair this year. Look forward to a record turn out Adel!

I am the lucky Grandmother of two wonderful boys who live on Prairie St. Last time I was in Adel we went for a walk and it was lovely. My grandsons and I walked to the new library and enjoyed the warm weather. The young ladies were very nice and helped my boys find good books to read. It was a very nice afternoon and it reminded me of walking with my Grandpa. It makes me happy to know that my grandsons are growing up in a town that nice.

I had a wonderful time at the Steiff Bear Club event hosted by the Atherton House on June 19th. It was so nice to meet other collectors of these beautiful bears. Thank you Atherton House for bringing us together.

My girlfriends and I went shopping a few weekends ago at the Atherton House in Adel. I can't remember who it was that waited on us, but she was one of the owners. What a funky place! There were gifts from all over the world and she new every story! I bought a few gifts for family members that are one of a kind. The lady was so nice and helpful, I've been telling everyone about the Atherton House! So, if she sees this, thanks for all the help!

I recently moved back to the Adel area with my kids. My favorite memory from high school was caroling at the Courthouse during the Christmas open house. The town looked great and I always felt like I was in one of those Norman Rockwell paintings. I'm happy to hear that is still going on and plan to bring my kids this year.

I just found a way to connect with my old Adel Tiger friends! My kids showed me two websites called MYSPACE and FACEBOOK. I'm not one for the internet, but these sites were pretty neat. Now I'm friends with Discover Adel and I was able to reconnect with friends I thought I lost!

The Adel Sweet Corn Festival is a great place to meet up with all my friends and family. The music and entertainment is always great. And who can resist FREE corn!

I have been attending the Corn Fest since I was a kid. The past few years, I've wanted to take my kids but have missed it. Now I know when it is! I can't wait for my kids to have the same experiences I had in Adel growing up. I remember waiting in line for the butter soaked corn, the parade, (and all the candy!) i'm so glad a place like Adel has summertime fun for the entire family.
