Now that the sun is shining again, we are back on track with work on 9th Street.
A rough timeline of activities for this week include:
Turn soils on 9th Street to dry them up and then run the compaction tests for soil compaction. It is anticipated that we may begin hauling the modified rock sub-base by tomorrow afternoon or Thursday. If that works begins then, expect it to continue through Friday and Saturday to completion.
Once the modified rock sub-base is down on 9th Street the weather is less critical during work progress. Expect the contractor to begin “trimming the line” in preparation of concrete by early next week. If the weather holds; expect concrete by sometime late next week.
Work is commencing on the sidewalk on the North side of Main Street with installation of the light pole bases. Brick work detail should begin in the next day or so along the front of Adel TV & Appliance. A special thank you to the businesses along the North side of Main for their patience during this period of work.
No schedule of sidewalk work on the South side of Main Street, it is anticipated that the contractors are going to focus all efforts on 9th Streetwhile the weather holds.
City elected officials and staff will be meeting with contractors onsite on Thursday to discuss the brick installation on the east end of Main Street and address any possible solutions to modifications.
Work continues to progress and any questions about the project are welcome, please call me at 993-4525 or reply to this email.
As always, thank you for your patience and cooperation.
