Residents and Business owners,

The City has contracted with two separate local contractors for some minor street repairs and alley replacements in the City.

The two levels of repair include concrete work and asphalt work.

The concrete contract includes several storm water intake repairs in various parts of the community and some street panel repairs. Those repairs will begin in the next day or two and may take us through the rest of this construction season. Since the repairs are scattered around the community, there will be only minor traffic inconveniences as almost all of the repairs include only a street panel or two and / or work on the intakes in the curb line. One lane of traffic will be maintained in the construction zones. Nearly all the repairs are in the residential areas of town.

The asphalt repairs will include two alleys and the parking lot north of City Hall. The alleys are the ones behind the Public Safety building and the alley north of City Hall – behind Adel Quilting and Golden Gate Antiques. Asphalt work typically opens up to traffic once the asphalt is cool to the touch – so I am hopeful there are minimal disruptions in the parking lot and alleys.

It is expected that the asphalt alley and parking lot work will take about one week. The concrete repairs will be ongoing through the fall and perhaps into next spring.

As more specific information about construction schedules becomes available, I will keep you posted on particular closings and traffic patterns.

As always, thank you for your patience.
