Dear Friend,
Wow! I love Christmas in Adel! The downtown looks like a postcard. Folks are smiling as they travel between the stores and the Holidays are in the air! I don't even mind the fact that we don't have snow yet.
Over Thanksgiving we welcomed a new future staff member to the DiscoverAdel family, William, 8 lbs., 10 oz. 21 inches long. He looks like a future linebacker. "Santa" is excited as this makes three grandkids for Christmas this year.
This month we have an interview with Jeff Crowder of Fusion Church. There are great changes at Brick Street Cafe, an opportunity to get in shape from Anytime Fitness, and the latest events from Around Town, news and events from the Adel Public Library, a Recipe from Home, and much more!
Have a great December, be sure to stop out to Adel this month, we're looking forward to seeing you!
Jeff Crowder - Fusion Church
We had the pleasure of sitting down with Pastor Jeff Crowder of Fusion Church, located just East of Adel, to discuss his new church.
Pastor Jeff Crowder
Jeff grew up in Braidwood, Illinois and eventually lived in Chicago. He and his wife Tracey have three children, Stephen - 7, Sarah - 4, and Isaac-23 mos.
Having grown up in several different denominations, he was searching for a place that the truth of the scriptures could be fully preached.
He found that at the age of 20.
Jeff and Tracey married at 24 and he was a Youth pastor in Dubuque, Iowa. They've pastor-ed in Iowa for ten years, recieving the call to come to Adel this fall.
Although Fusion is located in the former Celebration Church building, Jeff wants people to know that it is a new church affiliated with the Assemblys of God.
Sunday services start at 10:00 with a praise and worship service. Jeff sits on the stage as he delves into the Bible. The scriptures are projected on the screen behind him, but he encourages everyone to bring their Bible and follow along in the Word.
His attire is relaxed, he often preaches in his trademark black sweater, his doctrine is biblical. "We have a message for all people that you can be made right with God through Jesus Christ." adding that, "We want a church for people."
Jeff is concerned with local outreach, Fusion offered a 100 free turkeys with all of the fixings to the community this last Thanksgiving.
Having lived in Chicago, the Crowders are enjoying the friendliness of Adel and the smiles they receive in the community.
He and Tracey invite anyone looking for a church home to come out to Fusion this Sunday for fellowship.

Strengthening Families Program for Parents and Youth 10-14 years, offered through Iowa State University Extension
Strengthening Families is designed to help families build strong relationships. Parents/Caregivers learn to use love and limits in guiding their youth, in family communication and in problem-solving.
Youth learn to set goals, understand stress, and practice skills to deal with peer pressure.
The program is structured such that in the 1st hour the youth and parents/caregivers meet in separate sessions. The parent session is discussion and video-based.
The youth session involves role-playing, interaction, fun activities & games. Then during the last hour the families come together to practice skills, work on projects, and do fun activities.
Dates: Sundays Jan. 8th - Feb. 26th (no class Feb. 5th due to Super Bowl)
Times: 5 - 7:30 pm
Location: Adel Elementary School, 1608 Grove St., Adel

Recipe of the Month
This month's recipe comes from my sister-in-law, Nell.
The recipe makes enough for 6-8, depending on your crew.
If you've ever seen my nephews, you'll understand why Nell uses three crock-pots.
She makes each one with different meats, cheeses, and vegetables.
12 Slices of Bread
12 oz. Cheddar Cheese
1 lb. Cubed Ham
2 1/2 C. Milk
1/2 C. Melted Butter
1. Pre-spray Crockpot.
2. Cube Bread.
3. Lay a third of the bread in the bottom, followed by a third of the Ham and cheeses.
4. Repeat Layers.
5. Mix eggs with milk and melted butter.
6. Pour over bread, meat and cheese.
7. Put the lid on the pot and don't take it off.
Cook on low for 4 hours.
Substitute cooked sausage, add onions, peppers, mushrooms, etc. to taste.
