On Friday, August 17th, 2012 the historic Adel Pool, located next to Kinnick-Feller Park on 9th St. will close it’s doors on a glorious history.
Built in 1935 by the WPA, (Works Progress Administration) as a community betterment project, it served Adel and the neighboring communities for 72 years. Surviving the Depression, flooding, drought, swimming lessons, and 72 years of children having fun.
But the children of Adel won’t be without a pool, the ground has already been broken on a new Aquatic Center located at the corner of Meadow Road and South 15th Street.
If you’d like a chance to take one last dip in the old pool, this is it.
There will be a final day for the public to partake in the Pool on the 18th as the city holds it’s Annual Doggy Daze of Summer event.
