4-H Foundation Silent Auction

Dallas County Fair
The Dallas County 4-H Foundation’s annual silent auction to benefit local 4-H’ers is set for July 10-12 during the Dallas County Fair at the fairgrounds north of Adel. Bidding will be open from 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, through 3 p.m. Saturday, July 12.
Local businesses have donated a wide variety of goods and services for the fundraiser, which supports individual and club citizenship and leadership projects within the county and educational activities beyond the club level.
In addition, silent auction proceeds have funded needed improvements for 4-H’ers at the county fair. A large portion ($3,000) of the 2007 silent auction funds was designated by the Dallas County 4-H Foundation for remodeling of the 4-H food stand on the fairgrounds.
The improvements will allow the food stand to more efficiently serve customers and accommodate orders.The Boone Progressors 4-H Club and Carissa Origer were awarded finances to make fleece blankets for shelters in Dallas County and Noah Taylor and Emily Wicks each received $75 towards the Central Iowa Intermediate 4-H trip.
Previous uses of silent auction money have included financial assistance for senior 4-H’ers attending the Citizenship Washington Focus trip; new poultry and rabbit cages and livestock photo backdrops for the fair; refurbishing display shelves in the Community Building for static exhibits; purchase of walkie-talkies for use at 4-H horse shows; and various club and individual community service undertakings.
The Foundation reviews applications for funds in February and October. Board members are Scott Finneseth, Dave Book, Carol Reynolds, Sally Kilkenny and Linda Nelson.
